The first recorded description of the game of Chess comes from the 8th century India. The game is spread to Persia, and finally Europe. The features of the modern game was determined in the 16th century.
Played on a square board with 64 squares, the objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent's King. Complex, elaborate strategies that have been devised to accomplish this goal can be seen in Chess Championships.
This is not a game for very small children and hence the age group so high.
